PULKOVO AIRPORT PROJECT GETS SINGAPORE'S ATTENTION

With its grand palaces and picturesque canals, St Petersburg is often called one of the world's most beautiful cities. It may not be as hip as London or as chic as Paris, but it still ranks as one of the top destinations in Europe for tourist arrivals and is rapidly developing into a regional business and financial hub.

Thanks to the influx of travellers, the city's main airport, Pulkovo International Airport is experiencing phenomenal growth. 2007 proved to be a bumper year with passenger traffic reaching 6.13 million passengers, making it the fourth busiest airport in Russia. However, industry sources estimate this figure could triple by 2020, putting a strain on Pulkovo's current infrastructure.
