SINGAPORE SCHOOLS: WHERE EDUCATION MEETS PERSONALITY MOULDING

It is very easy to browse the Internet and download all the official facts and figures concerning Singapore's education. We decided to take a look from the inside, and met with a Singaporean  student of a government school who has just gone through all the stages up till university. Diane Tan highlights  the milestones of a school education in Singapore

The System

In Singapore, schooling is compulsory from the age of 6 to 15. After finishing six years of primary school, all local students take the PSLE examination and have another four years of secondary school, which ends with the «O-Level» examinations. Depending on their results, students go either to a junior college, which is basically a foundation course for university, or to a polytechnic, which provides more specialised education.
