FORMULA FOR FUN: ROADSHOW BY SINGAPORE TOURISM BOARD IN RUSSIAThe Singapore Tourism Board office in Moscow kicked off the 10-day Singapore Grand Prix Season with a "Formula for Fun" function in Moscow on 17 September 2009. The function was held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, from 6pm to 10.30 pm. Attendance was marked by Singapore's Chief de Mission Mr Christopher Cheang and some 150 leading trade travel partners and media representatives from Moscow.
STB Moscow worked closely with the Ritz Carlton chefs to develop a sumptuous spread of popular Singapore dishes like Bak Kut Tea soup, Singapore Curry Chicken, Satay, Spicy Seafood (in place of Chilli Crab) were well-received by Russian guests as well as Singapore industry members – a good measure on close authenticity of the dishes. For dessert, Ice-Kacang and Bubur Pulot Hitam and traditional mooncakes completed the unique taste of Singapore.
In keeping with the ‘FUN' theme, the programme injected excitement with quizzes on Formula One, attractions like Singapore Flyer and upcoming Integrated Resorts. Participants walked away with fabulous prizes like air tickets from Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways, hotel stays, tour vouchers, health screening packages, and other exclusive Formula 1 goodies – T-Shirts and caps.
Singapore Roadshow Delegation
The function was attended by the largest delegation of Singapore Industry Partners who participated in the STB-led Roadshow covering St Petersburg (16.09.09) and Moscow (17.09.09).
The Roadshow received overwhelming response with 16 industry members registered for St Petersburg and 18 members in Moscow. Participants included leading tour operators/DMC, leading hotels (Capella, the Sentosa Resort and Spa, Mandarin Oriental, InterContinental Singapore, etc) and the Singapore Flyer. Two healthcare partners – National Healthcare Group and Red Carpet Medical joined the Roadshow to assess the market potential and establish referral contacts with Russian travel trade.
Feedback from both travel trades and industry members was positive. The "Formula for Fun" Roadshow in Moscow stood out from other ‘regular trade functions' and reinforced impressions of Singapore as a vibrant exciting destination. The networking platform created a Singapore-focused environment which led to more effective business discussion between Russian trade and Singapore industry partners.
