THE RUSSIA-SINGAPORE BUSINESS FORUM
The Russia-Singapore Business Forum (RSBF) is an annual B-to-B forum that was initiated and organised by Troyka Dialog, Russia's top investment bank, the Singapore Embassy in Russia and International Enterprise (IE) Singapore, a Singapore government agency that promotes the overseas growth of Singapore-based companies and the international trade. In 2009, the list of co-organisers has expanded to include Sberbank, the largest credit institution in Russia and CIS.
Since the inaugural forum in March 2006, the RSBF has grown in stature to become Asia's only leading business and networking platform for Russian/CIS and Singaporean/Asian businessmen. It has set a precedent in bringing together top government officials and business elite from these regions.
Results of the RSBF
The Forums have demonstrated its value in encouraging business tie-ups between Singapore-based and Russian companies, with joint ventures and MOUs being signed amongst companies in the aviation, logistics as well as infrastructure sectors.
Examples include the partnership between PIK Group, one of the largest real estate developers in Russia, and GIC Real Estate, the property investment arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation, to develop
a large urban township in the Moscow Region.
The Forums have also enabled young and dynamic Russian businessmen to speak directly to Singapore/Asian companies and MNCs. As such, many top Singapore companies are now investing in Russia. Major Singapore companies such as Temasek Holdings, Keppel Group, CapitaLand, City Development Limited and Far East
are present or seeking a presence in Russia.
Conversely, the Forums have drawn many Russian businessmen to look at Singapore as a platform and staging post for their ventures into Asian markets. Hence, we are seeing more Russian companies establishing their offices in Singapore.
