SINGAPORE'S SIRENS, STOCKINGS AND SIBLINGS: URBAN MYTHS DISPELLED

We happened to come across some false statements and misleading facts about Singapore perpetuated by some media. We feel that it is high time and our duty to dispel certain myths about the city-state. Well, you are in for a good laugh, for these rumours are hilarious, to say the least. They are probably the creation of someone's sick imagination, or the result of bad translation from English. Whatever their genesis, these myths mislead tourists and unjustly represent Singapore.

We at 103rd Meridian East have been living in this country for nearly a decade and have first-hand knowledge of most aspects of Singaporean life. However, we'd rather not rely on our personal experiences alone or make unsubstantiated statements. Instead, we will bring in reliable sources to prove us right and those hearsays wrong.

We are aware that certain myths may at some stage have been a reality. But why do some media perpetuate the fables that are now ancient history or totally invalid? Beats us. So let the dispelling begin.
